This is the evil 4' high wall I walked off in the
dark. The stairs were about 5' to the left. Whoops. |

These are the emergency room xrays of my busted radius and
ulnar stylus.
Surgery Looming for EveAnna Manley After Wrist Fracture
January 2001, Chino, CA
EveAnna Manley, CEO of Manley Laboratories, Inc., suffered a
distal multiple facture of the radius and ulna styliod process fracture of her
left
wrist after an ill-fated walk off a four foot ledge on the first day of her
vacation in Maui December 19th. "It was pitch black dark and I thought the
stairs were there. They weren't," Ms. Manley grimly states.
Emergency room reduction of the fracture was performed by Dr. Ben
Massenburg, who is asked frequently if he is related to George Massenburg.
Apparently there is quite a large population of the pro audio community who
ends up under his care at Maui Memorial Hospital in Wailuku. No relation was
claimed.
After spending three weeks in a full arm fiberglass cast, doctors in Upland,
CA. recasted the arm in a "shorty" forearm cast. CT scans were
performed
January 12th. Doctors have made a final determination for surgery scheduled for
January
24th after results from the scans were analyzed showing multiple fragments
within the break.
"Looks like smashed up Dorito," types EveAnna with her good hand. Ms.
Manley will undergo
reconstructive surgery to realign the fragments. Hardware used will include
pins, screws, and
plates with an external fixation apparatus applied for 2-3 weeks to relieve
loading on
the joint. "I'll look like the Terminator," Manley enthusiastically
chimes in. The procedure
will take several hours under general anesthesia at San Antonio Hospital in
Upland, CA
where she be kept for 1-2 days.
Ms. Manley is trooping on with one handed typing trying to keep up with her
usual load of email responses although she admits there are many things she
cannot do like open jars, drive her manual transmission cars, and of course,
she won't be seen on her Harley for awhile. "Pulling the clutch will
eventually be good physical therapy for me," she states, "but for now,
I'm
stuck driving a 1986 Oldsmobile station wagon."
See the blood and gore:
surgery shots!
