The Roof Rats continued getting the roof ready while some of
the crew started painting. An area of the patio roof was left open to
allow access to the rafter tails. After the tiles go up we won't be able
to get to this area so we addressed this while we were able.

Here is Ricardo getting some paint on the rafter tails. I
have chosen a deep blue accent color for them. I found the right color in
a "Kid's Collection" Behr paint book. (Of course...)

This valley is almost ready for tiles. Some more flashing and stucco was applied. I don't know how Martin plans to get tiles under that rafter. Vamos a ver.... |

New white paint was rolled on about a foot down from the
roof so that we won't have to get near the cap tiles with paint later when
they are put on next week.
That paint will be a huge moral boost. |

Those damn termites get in everywhere. Here they got into
one piece of wood that the moulding was nailed to. Just the skin of the 1
x 1 remained. They had eaten the whole thing.
As soon as we get the trash heap away from the building, the termite tenting crew will be called in to tent the entire house and nuke the bugs. In the meantime, we keep finding bad wood and replacing it. There is one major job to do next week where we will have to cut out a 6 foot section of the roof ridge board over the dining room and replace it from the inside. Should be fun... |
