Frank's 1969 VW Bug
Vintage 1987 Vanimal with Frank's vintage 1969 bug.

Work is underway. Finally!
In
fact it is almost done with new fuel tank, new disk brakes up front, new wheel
bearings, new wire harness, new rubber everywhere, engine tin all powder coated,
etc. etc etc. Thousand of dollars of parts. The engine is running again.
While we were painting the under-hood, the red paint came away with the blue
masking tape. So we hauled all the removable parts off to get them sandblasted
clean and Manny is block sanding and prepping the whole car in preparation for
yet another paint job. Hopefully one that sticks this time.
Then it is going back to Frank in Atlanta as it is really his car.
Here's some pix June 2004:
Old rusted out heater channels replaced and new ones welded in by my buddy Cozmic Joe.

It's a bit dusty with all the sanding... nothing that can't be blown off with an air compressor.

New
fuel tank and clamps. Front end completely rebuilt. New brake fluid reservoir
and hoses all around.
Rear brakes rebuilt. New wheel bearings installed on all wheels.

New disk brakes up front. And shocks and bushings of course. Wheels powder coated.

The engine is running fine again. New plugs 'n' points. Carb hot tanked and rebuilt. New generator. New fuel pump. New oil filler neck. New hoses. All engine cooling tin powder coated. New firewall insulation. Good thing we replaced that as there were severely burned wires living behind it. New wire harness installed. New air filter and plug wires not shown.
AUGUST 2005 New Paint.
I finally came across the right guy to paint it. Rene Rules!

Here is the Bug repainted AGAIN but this time with the original 1969 official VW red paint code match.

It looks brilliant. Rene did a great job. Now re-assembly re-begins.
